Inspirational Watercolors

Most of the artwork I created in my teens was watercolors of animals and birds. It seemed to be the medium I was the most comfortable with. However, as it turns out, my work in the past 25 years has been mostly oil paintings and I’ve grown to be very at ease with that medium as well.  Occasionally, a commission for a watercolor will come up and I love it when they do. I have featured some of those paintings, including a favorite of my wife, Patty’s, “Light Over Bethlehem” which features one of those black lambs from her dad’s farm.  Another, “The Rescue” showing Jesus rescuing a lost lamb has been a favorite of many as they relate to that lost, black lamb. I had the privilege of doing a depiction of the Exodus and Moses striking the rock for water to appease grumbling Israelites. Finally, I was happy to create “Reaping the Harvest” for a book cover several years back. Watercolors can be tricky and they require a great deal of patience but I love the subtle look they offer.
